Zero calories?

MW: 132
GW: 131 by tomorrow

Fasting today to make sure I get there! Boyfriend is at work for 12 hours so nothing but liquids for me.

I found an interesting article. Pam cooking spray has 900 calories per can!! People think that splenda and cooking spray are zero calories and nonfat but its all LIES! In America, the laws are different in labeling things. If it has 5 calories or less per seving, they can label it as "0 calories". What companies do is make the serving size small enough to label it as zero calories when there is in fact lots! Isn't that screwed up? That Pam cooking spray stuff has a serving size listed as 1/4 second. When I use it to fry an egg, I spray the whole pan which ends up being 3 or 4 seconds. Even diet cola has calories. It's small, but those negligible calories add up! We could be eating as many as 100 unaccounted for calories a day.

I'm a crazy perfectionist and it really bothers me that the USDA can get away with mislabeling things. I just want to know the exact amount of calories in the food that I eat. Is it so hard to ask the food packaging companies to be honest?
End rant.

Happy Friday, ladies!

Hungry girl is an amazing website, by the way. There's loads of ideas to make your favourite recipes lower in calories and fat. I've made quite a few recipes from this site. They seem really complicated, and they do take more effort than just opening a can of pasta sauce. They are always worth it though. :-)

  1. I read something similar to that a while ago. It is crazy!! Bastards don't care about much more than profit.

Good luck on your fast! :) stay strong.
